L'étourneau des pagodes - Sturnia pagodarum - est l'autre nom français du martin des pagodes.

Il vit principalement sur le continent indien (Inde, Népal, Pakistan, Bangladesh,Afghanistan,...) mais aussi en Chine. S'il est présent au Sri-Lanka, il n'y niche pas (encore). Cette espèce a été introduite dans certains pays comme les Émirats Arabes Unis.ou encore Oman.

Son alimentation est très variée. Cela va des insectes, aux fruits en passant par des végétaux et le nectar des fleurs.

Comme d'autres étourneaux, il se déplace en marchant et non en sautillant (comme le moineau par exemple). Il se nourrit sur le sol plutôt que dans les arbres.

Il se comporte, finalement, comme n'importe quel étourneau. 

Suffisamment proche des villageois pour se percher sur les pagodes. D’où son nom français.

The Brahminy Myna - Sturnia pagodarum - is the other English name for the Brahminy Starling.

He lives mainly on the Indian continent (India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan,...) but also in China. If it is present in Sri Lanka, it does not nest there (yet). This species has been introduced into certain countries such as the United Arab Emirates or even Oman.

Its diet is very varied. It ranges from insects to fruits, passing through plants and the nectar of flowers.

Like other starlings, it moves by walking and not by hopping (like the sparrow for example). It feeds on the ground rather than in the trees.

He behaves, in the end, like any starling. Close enough to the village people to perch on the pagodas. Hence its French name.
