Le perroquet Jaco - Psittacus erithacus - est probablement l'espèce de perroquet la plus connue du grand public. Elle est aussi une des espèces de perroquet la plus  détenue en captivité.

Le perroquet Jaco est une espèce en danger.Outre la déforestation importante que connaît l'Afrique, les captures pour le commerce des oiseaux de compagnie ont contribué massivement à sa disparition à l'état sauvage. Les spécialistes chiffrent à plusieurs centaines de milliers les oiseaux prélevés dans la nature entre 1980 et 2000.

Ce qui a aussi un impact sur la consanguinité chez cette espèce. Sans parler des déséquilibres dans la nature.

En France, la détention du Perroquet gris est très réglementée. Il suffit de lire les différents articles que nous avons rédigé sur ce blog depuis 2017 à ce sujet.

On peut rencontrer beaucoup de ces perroquets en exposition à l'étranger. Notamment, en Italie, à Modena. Sachez qu'il faudra être en règle pour les faire entrer en France et les détenir.

Mais, cela montre aussi que ce perroquet se reproduit bien en captivité. C'est une chance pour cette espèce. Et pour nous si nous voulons espérer encore le voir en vie.

The Grey Parrot is an endangered species. In addition to the significant deforestation experienced by Africa, trapping for the pet bird trade have contributed massively to its disappearance in the wild. Experts estimate that several hundred thousand birds were taken from the wild between 1980 and 2000.

One can encounter many of these parrots on birds shows abroad. Notably, in Italy, in Modena. Know that it will be necessary to respect laws and rules to bring them into France and detain them.
