A l’état sauvage, la nourriture du faisan de Lady Amherst est surtout à base de pousses de bambous et d’insectes qu’il débusque sur le sol. Il gratte le sol et déplace les cailloux pour y dénicher quelques araignées et autres coléoptères. Les baies et quelques fruits peuvent compléter son alimentation.

La faisan de Lady Amherst est du genre craintif. Il a besoin d’un couvert végétal important pour s’y cacher en cas de besoin. Soit, il s’immobilise, soit il coure se cacher.

In the wild, the food of the Lady Armherst’s pheasant is mainly based on shoots of bamboos and insects that it hunts down on the ground. It scrapes the ground and moves the stones to find some spiders and other beetles. The berries and some fruits can supplement its diet.

The Lady Amherst’s Pheasant is a fearful bird. It needs an important vegetative cover to hide there if needed. Either it’s stalling or it’s running for cover.
